Obituary of Henrietta ter Steege

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita ter Steege. A beloved mother, Mimi, sister and friend who passed away peacefully on December 6th 2024 at the age of 70.

Rita was a woman of incredible strength, grace and beauty and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Rita was a hard working, dedicated mother who raised her daughters with boundless love, imparting to them her values of kindness generosity and resilience.

Rita's love for her family and friends was a force like no other and her devotion to them was endless. Rita was nothing short of amazing. She was a constant source of fun, laughter and wisdom. Her warmth, humour and infectious laugh made her a beacon of light in their lives. Her badassery and ability to see the humour in life's challenges helped those around her find strength in difficult times.

A lover of projects, Rita was always busy creating, improving or helping others with their own endeavours, especially her daughters.

Whether it was a home improvement project – inside or out, Rita's passion and confidence had you feeling like you could create anything you found on Pinterest.

Rita was powerful in so many ways. Powerful in her love, in her strength and in her ability to lift others.

She was a constant source of support and encouragement, never hesitating to offer a helping hand or a word of advice.

Rita is survived by daughters Tabitha and Natalie; by grandchildren Tianna, Lyla and Colton; by siblings Hilda (late John), Rosie, Dorothy (Don), Tracy (Tom) and Stephen (Christine); by Joe; and by nieces, nephews and close friends who will miss her deeply.

A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.

May Rita rest in peace knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
