Obituary of Joan Barber
With deep sadness and love we announce the death of Joan Barber at the Royal on Gordon, Monday December 2, 2014. She had a life filled with adventure and love. Despite her health challenges in recent years, she continued to enjoy social events and time spent with family and friends. Each challenge was handled with grace and humour. Joan maintained life long friendships through St. George’s Anglican Church and activities such as bridge. She enjoyed many of the events at the Royal as well as around Guelph. She never knew what surprises were around the corner when her kids were involved. Joan is predeceased by her husband Ernie. They enjoyed a variety of experiences together, which included travelling, hiking and curling. They spent many wonderful summers at their cottage in PEI. She is survived by her children Katherine, Allan (Barbara) and Christine and by her beloved granddaughter Davina. Joan will also be missed by her dear brother Jim Waddell and sister-in-laws Audrey (Waddell), June (Lambert) and Joyce (Barber) as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Jennifer Caspers and the staff at The Royal on Gordon for the exceptional care Joan received. Friends may call at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph (from 7 – 9 p.m. Friday and 2 -4 p.m. Saturday).
