Obituary of Bert Brown

Brown, Robert "Bert" It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, in his 80th year, on July 22, 2019 at Guelph General Hospital. Bert was the dear husband and high school sweetheart of Darlene (nee Cunningham). Fantastic father of Christine Crawford (Brad), Paul (Shannon) and Kerri. He was adored by his grandchildren; Kyle (Sarah), Blythe (Andrew), Brett, Katey, Megan, Connor and great-grandchildren Blake and Brynn. Bert is survived by his only brother, John (Bonnie), his brother-in-law Bob Cunningham (Alison) and sister-in-law Judi Stevens (Brian). He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and many friends. Bert was an exceptional athlete. He was the first to receive "Athlete of the year" at John F. Ross CVI. He had a distinguished hockey career and especially loved playing for his hometown Biltmore Madhatters. Bert was a talented baseball player and loved a round of golf (not so good)! He was both thrilled and honoured to be voted into the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame. Above all, Bert was proud of his family and their many accomplishments. Special Thanks to the staff on 4W at the Guelph General Hospital for their care and compassion. The family is hosting a Celebration of Bert’s Life on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Guelph Country Club, 133 Woodlawn Rd. E., Guelph. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to SickKids Foundation would be appreciated.
