Obituary of James McCorkindale
McCorkindale, James
Passed away in peace at Guelph General Hospital in his 69th year on Monday, August 31, 2020. Jim shared a long marriage, estranged partnership and many adventures with the mother of his daughters, Linda McCorkindale. He is further survived by his daughters, Shawndra (Maria) McCorkindale and Carrie James, his grandchildren, Jesse James and Brandon James, and his brothers, Bob (Erin), Neil (Valerie) and Bill McCorkindale. His mother-in-law Ida Merkley, and in laws Frank Merkley (Kim), Donna Foran (Mike), Ray Merkley (Valerie), Jerry Speers, and many Nieces and Nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Dr. William McCorkindale and Agnes McCorkindale sister Faye Cherry, and father-in-law Dave Merkley (Ida), sisters in law Linda McCorkindale (Bill) and Carol Speers (Jerry) and by his nephew Scott.
The family would like to thank the nurses at the dialysis unit at Guelph Renal Clinic and Dr. Freedman for their care over the last two years. Jim had nothing but good things to say about his time spent at the Guelph Clinic, and even busted out of the hospital with a broken foot just so he could go the Guelph Clinic rather than go to the Kitchener Clinic by ambulance. Special thanks to Dr. Christine Vogel and her assistant Merilla, Jim had a long relationship with and fondness for both of you. May his time spent with you only bring back good laughs.
Jim packed a lot of living into his years with business adventures, travel adventures, renovations experiences, artistic endevours, some good and some not so much but always with full enthusiasm. The four canine friends Jim had in his lifetime were truly his best friends, Patches, Sam, Byron and Simon.
All who knew him or crossed paths with him will have a story to tell, some good and some not so much! Jim will be missed by many whose lives became boring without his presence.
At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital-Dialysis Unit would be appreciated.
May you all find peace in your hearts knowing that Jim’s wishes were carried out as he specified.
