Maxwell Parr

Obituary of Maxwell Parr

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our beautiful boy, Maxwell Rennick Lloyd Parr (he/they). On February 17th, 2023, Maxwell passed at age 26 after suffering from complications from a stroke, he was surrounded by his family and friends in Montréal. Maxwell was born on March 27th, 1996, alongside his twin brother Jacob, in Guelph, Ontario. He leaves behind his parents Rosalie Rennick Parr and David Parr and his siblings James Parr, (Anindita Datta), Grace Parr, (Albert Le), and Jacob Parr. Max was a beautiful soul who would light up any room he went in, he had a unique ability to make everyone feel loved and special. He cared deeply for others and always tried to make the world a better place. He was a Project Manager in Montréal, Quebec, for La Concertation de Developpement Sociale de Verdun (CDSV), where he worked to build community through his community gardens, strengthen access to food security, and advocating for sustainability and equality in various community organizations. Max enjoyed spending time in his community gardens, connecting to the earth, painting with his watercolours, travelling the world, having adventures, and enjoying laughs with his friends. Max will stay with us in every act of kindness we do for others, every seed we sow in the garden, and every laugh we have. He was a bright soul, and his presence will continue to be felt. We will be holding a celebration of life on Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at 1 pm at Dublin Street Church in Guelph, Ontario. Max was a bright, fabulous, and vibrant person who loved travelling to learn about different cultures. So to honour him we invite you to wear colourful clothing, something fabulous, something you are comfortable in, and/or something from your own culture. All are welcome to share your ‘Maxwell Moment’ at the celebration of life, either in person, by leaving a note, or virtually in a pre-recorded video (see website for details). Max loved to travel and went to more countries than we can count and touched more lives than we will ever know. For those around the world who want to join, we will be live-streaming the service through the Dublin Street United Church Youtube Account. We will be holding a memorial in one of Max's community gardens in Montréal in the spring, details to follow. We request that any donations be made in Max’s name to Chalmers Centre 41 Macdonell St., Guelph Ontario. An organization dedicated to ending food insecurity. Max would have liked that.
