Obituary of William Ranton

Ranton, William Donald. It is with much sadness that our family announces the passing of William Donald Ranton also known as "Dutch" on April 17, 2023. William (Donald) died after ongoing health issues at the age of 84. Born in Branchton, Ontario, William (Donald) was the son of John and Ada Isabel (MacPherson) Ranton. Loving brother of Shirley Parker (Bob deceased), Jean Ranton and predeceased by sisters Beverly Gillis, Ruth Hartrick (Jim deceased), Gladys Eastman (Bill) and Helen Murphy (Ed). Loving brother-in-law to Ed Murphy. He will be greatly missed by all his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Donald will be remembered for his love of hockey and baseball. He loved attending the Kitchener Rangers games. In his younger years he was active with Preston Minor and Men’s Inter-county softball. He was active in the Guelph Chevron Club. Donald looked forward to his Sunday breakfast at Wimpy’s with friends. Donald served in the local food and beverage industry for 40 years. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Guelph General and St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Donald’s family would like to express their gratitude to Steve McGarr & Shay Roy their friendship and support. Donations can be made to the charity of choice. Cremation has already taken place.
