Alice Davis

Obituary of Alice Davis

DAVIS, Alice Marion Peacefully, in Guelph, her home town of more than seven decades, on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the incredible age of 97. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Willis Davis (1980). The proudest mother of Alvin of Guelph, always inspiring him through her constant love, support and guidance. Cherished grandmother of Adam and Sarah. She was their friend and inspiration and best cheerleader in all their endeavours. Dear friend and mother-in-law of Angela. Alice was the last member of her generation - a proud Campbell. Pre-deceased by her eleven siblings: sisters Mae, Rae and Kathleen, and brothers: Roy, Jim, Ern, Jack, Wilfred, Harold, Gerald and Alvin Campbell. She was a close friend and dearest aunt to Marian, Vera Mae, Doug and Don. She will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews living across Canada. Alice was a cat lover and she was happiest when she could be in her garden. As a proud member of the Guelph Horticultural Society for over 40 years, she served as president and volunteer on many committees. She was a member of the Evergreen Centre and enjoyed driving her car, dancing, entertaining family and friends and enjoying a glass of scotch. Alice, number one Blue Jays fan, didn’t miss cheering on her team. She was strong willed with a great sense of humour; truly a force in the lives of all those who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her stories will always remain in the hearts of her wonderful family and many friends and neighbours. Friends may call at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, on Thursday, August 6th, from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 7th at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions to the Guelph Horticultural Society, Evergreen Seniors Centre or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. We invite you to leave your memories and donations online. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free. Miss me a little - but not too long, And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone. It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, Go to the friends we know. And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, Miss me - but let me go.
