Obituary of Alan Rogers
Rogers, Alan Jesse
Born January 2, 1926 in Toronto, passed away on January 4, 2018 at the age of 92 at the Elliott Community in Guelph. Loving husband to Denise (Cave) deceased. Fondly remembered by his sister Marg Kelly, his brother Ken Rogers and sisters-in-law Lila Rogers and Daisy Rogers, many nieces and nephews, granddaughter Christine and great-granddaughters Natalie and Brielle. Alan started his career as a mechanic in the army in WWII and finished at the Public Works Department in Etobicoke. He loved fishing, gardening, dogs, travel, Euchre, Scrabble and racing, not necessarily in that order. He had a refined sense of humour and made people laugh to the end even when faced with the challenges of Alzheimers over the last 7 years. Many thanks to those who made his last years engaging including the staff at the Elliott (too many to name), Maria Cameron and the Alzheimers Day Program in Guelph. A graveside service will be held in April at Glendale Cemetery in Etobicoke. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, (519-824-0031). We invite you to leave your memories and donations online at: www.gilchristchapel.com and they will be forwarded to the family.
