Vig was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and their families in both the Montin and Nicol families and is survived by Zii - Elisa Montin (late Tarscisio), Luciana Gatto (late Guido), Bruna Gatto (late Luigi), Victoria Gatto (late Angelo), Antonia Visentin (late Corrado) as well as Gatto & Montin families in Canada, the US, Italy and Australia.
Virginio was born in Pordenone Italy and emigrated to Canada in 1959 when he was 9 years old. Many people will remember Virginio (Vig) as the owner of the Wedge Deli at Willow West Mall and later working at the Wellington Catholic School Board with the Custodial team. During his retirement Vig became a framer of art at the studio of local artist Mary Dawn Roberts.
Vig had two passions in his life. His family and golfing. He began his battle with pancreatic cancer 13 months ago and until very recently he was winning that battle and enjoyed 3 rounds of golf every week all season. His golf buddies - Dino, John, Joey, Michael, Giuliano,Luc, Tuan and Lee will greatly miss him on the course.
There are no words to describe how deeply Vig was loved and respected and will be missed.
Special thanks to Dr Robinson and the GGH Chemo Clinic staff, Dr Hubay at Grand River Oncology, Dr Tobin and staff and during his final days the staff at Hospice Wellington.
