September 22 1963 - May 30 2024

After 60 years of hard work, Peter Varnai took his final rest on Thursday May 30, 2024. For the last year, Peter, son of the late Oscar and Jean Varnai, humbly fought Glioblastoma, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Hospice Wellington.

Peter is now watching over his wife Sherri-Lynn Varnai (Sunderland) and their children Parker and Taylor who he loved fiercely; as well as his dear sister Melinda Varnai (Brent Drewry) and in-laws Peter and Barbara Sunderland, and Blair (Julie) Sunderland. Uncle Pete will be missed by his nephews and nieces Adam and Grace Drewry, and Madeline, Margot, Keenan, and Estelle Sunderland.

Peter always put his family first and loved cheering on his kids at the hockey rink, swimming pool, and spending quality time together at his beloved family cottage. He was sure to instill in his family a love for boating, biking, grilling, raking fall leaves and lending a helping hand to his neighbours.
Peter was equally hard working as he was humble, and built an amazing career in manufacturing. He truly believed that if you were doing something you loved, you’d never work a day in your life. Throughout his last year, Peter remained focused on completing projects at home and the cottage, and we are looking forward to checking off the last few to-do’s in the coming months.

The family expresses their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the amazing and caring staff at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Hospice Wellington.

Family and friends may call at Brombal Funeral Home at 1 Delhi St, Guelph, ON on Monday, June 10 from 5 to 8 p.m.
A memorial Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St, Guelph, ON on Tuesday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m.
