Obituary of Maureen Elizabeth Sweeney

Maureen Elizabeth Sweeney born March 26 1958 passed away peacefully on Feb 19 2024 after a courageous battle. Maureen is predeceased by her parents Anna and James and her brother Len. Strong willed and independent to the very end, Maureen aka Auntie Mo, Sweens, Mightly Mo or just Mo lived life on her own terms. Mo was a strong-willed woman who wasn’t afraid to share her beliefs and opinions. Mo was known for her contagious giggle and quick wit. Her high school friends thought she should have been a stand-up comic. Mo never forgot a birthday. A card would arrive days before your birthday and would often contain a favorite recipe. She would put together gift baskets with all sorts of gadgets designed to make the recipients life easier. Maureen never left home without her hair and makeup done. Sweens was determined to look her best to the very end. Days before she passed, Maureen put her lipstick on and said “when the Good Lord comes for me, I need to look good”.

On Saturday, April 13 th at 10:30am there will be a Funeral Mass held for Maureen at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk St Guelph ON N1H 4H8 with a luncheon to follow in the Parish Hall.
