As Jennifer’s classmate and friend through high school and university, it was always a treat for me to be around Mr. and Mrs. Whiteley, whether it was a visit to their welcoming home or seeing them at a social event. Mr. Whiteley was always a lively and humourous man to chat to about his interests in photography, new tech and music, and he gave me a few pieces of career advice on combining engineering studies with my aviation interests that set me up very well in my life….the last time I saw him was a few years back somewhere around Guelph and he was looking good with a swimming exercise regime that obviously suited him. I send all my love and condolences to Jennifer and the rest of the Whiteley family as I appreciate what a blessing it was to have spent some time with your Dad and remember him as wonderful part of my life. Kindest regards, Neil Harding

I first met Joe and Cathy through the Genealogy Group at the Village by the Arboretum. Later I met them playing Bridge at the VBA as well. I was always impressed with the way Joe treated Cathy. He was a perfect gentleman and very patiently treated her like a Princess. I enjoyed talking to Joe in the lounge after bridge. His engineering career and stories were a testament to his passion for his work. I was also impressed with his annual drive to see relatives in the Maritimes. It was a long drive for a guy his age.
It's been a while since I last played bridge with Joe but I still miss him and Cathy.
My sincere condolences to the Family. Ralph Billings

I met Joe just a couple of years ago. He hired me to set up his stereo for him and we hit it off, finding that we had many common interests in music, photography, and geneology. I don't recall the last time I felt such a kinship with someone that I had just met. Long after the work was done we just sat around listening to music and swapping stories. Joe would have me dig through his music collection to find something he really wanted me to hear and each song led into another, and another. I'm saddened that I was unable to find time for more visits and now that kinship is gone. My condolences to all of Joe's family and friends. Someone extraordinary has left our lives.

I was very saddened to hear of your father's passing. I've enjoyed many phone conversations with him over the years as I work for the UNB Alumni Office. He always had a story to tell! I so appreciated all the pics he took of the SW Ontario annual dinner, of which many ended up in the Alumni News magazine. I'll certainly miss our chats. My sincere condolences.
