Obituary of Yvonne Sykes

SYKES, YVONNE (formerly Konynenburg) ~ Passed away peacefully on February 20, 2017 at the Guelph General Hospital in her 87th year surrounded by her daughters. Predeceased by her beloved husband John (1999) and grandson Matthew (2009). She was the loving mother of Ellen Corman (Robert), Patricia Robinson (Jim) and Sue Konynenburg (Don Finlayson) and stepmother to Cam (Rose). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren: Miranda (Fab), Portia, Olivia (Emery), Laura (Tim), Elizabeth, Katie (Dylan), Henry, Lucy, Abby, and Matthews wife Brigit. Dear GG to Caitlyn (Cody), Madeleine, Isaac, Gwyneth, Enso, Virginia, Eiko and Theodore. Following a career as a senior executive assistant in a number of major corporations in Holland and Toronto, Yvonne retired in 1985 to Wood Lake, with her beloved husband John. She was the center around which her family orbited, and her intelligence, curiosity and humour will continue to inspire the many people who loved her. The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring Paramed PSWs and the compassionate palliative care nurses at the Guelph General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelphon Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital would be appreciated.
