Obituary of Wilma Rose
Wilma passed away peacefully at the Brucelea Haven Nursing Home in Walkerton, Ontario on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of the late Wilmot (Bill) Rose (2007). Lovingly remembered by her 4 children, their spouses and 9 grandchildren; son, John and Ginette Rose of Sudbury, son, Jeff and Melissa Rose of Edmonton and their children Carolyn (Mike), Daniel and Cameron; son, James Rose (Martine MacDonald) of London and Sandra Rose of St. Thomas and their children Natalie, Sonja and Sacha; daughter, Jennifer and Paul Hudson of Walkerton and their children Noah, Jonah and Sarah. Predeceased by sisters Catherine (Harry) Woodside of Windsor and Margaret (Garnet) Dawson of King City and her parents Sarah & William Gibson of Windsor. Wilma will be missed by many nieces, nephews, close friends and collegues. Born and raised in Windsor, she attended Walkerville Collegiate and graduated from the Metropolitan General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1957. Wilma was passionate about everything she did. She was pediatric nurse for over 20 years in Windsor and Guelph. Wilma started her own marketing company while living in Exeter. Later in life, Wilma returned to college and obtained her degree in Gerontology. She volunteered at Norfolk Street United Church with their "Change Now" program, preparing and serving food for disadvantaged youth living in the inner city core of Guelph. Wilma was proudly recognized in 2005 with the Guelph Mayor’s Award for her inspiration in the launch of the Evergreen Senior’s Centre Outreach Program and with the 2005 Rotarian Volunteer Award for "Service above Self". While Wilma enjoyed her community involvement with seniors, the Shriners and the Masonic Lodge; her husband, children and grandchildren always came first and gave her the most joy. They are together again but they were never truly parted. However, both are greatly missed. Friends are invited to the Funeral Service at Norfolk Street United Church, 75 Norfolk Street, Guelph, on Monday March 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. with The Rev. Arty Miller officiating and to meet with the family at a reception immediately following the service. Memorial contributions to The Alzheimer Society, Shriners’ Childrens Hospital or Sleeping Children Around the World charities would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. We invite you to leave your memories and donations online.
