Obituary of Lorna Iler
Left this world to join her Lord and her loved ones gone before, on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the age of 96. Beloved wife of Harley Douglas Iler for 70 years. She was a consummate homemaker, volunteer extraordinaire and avid musician. She was untiring in her devotion to the people and things she loved: family, community, church, home, children, cats, gardens, birds, the list could go on. She baked two pies every Saturday.
Loving mother of Brian (Mary Brock) of Toronto, Maribeth d. 2010 (Larry Kaufer) of WashingtonD.C., Miriam Page (Richard d. 2009) of Scarborough and Madelyn of Kingston. Sadly missed by grandchildren Kirsten, Brendan, Laura, Fraser, Hilary, Andrew, Bronwyn, Alex and great-granddaughter Olive.
Predeceased by parents Frederick and Ethel Reeds and brother Huber. Born to school-teacher parents in Hague, Saskatchewan, her early years were spent in the Lindsay area. Graduated from TorontoBibleCollege in 1939 and Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing in 1942.
Lorna was an active member and worker at First Baptist Church of Guelph and the area Baptist Women's Missionary Society for many years. A volunteer for many organizations including: Women's Inter-church Council, Canadian Cancer Society, Guelph Horticultural Society, Guelph General Hospital Auxiliary,she was also a member of Guelph Light Opera Company, Silver Tones Choir, and Silver Sounds quartet. Her brother wrote, "music is part of her, love's in the heart of her."
Friends may call at the First Baptist Church, 255 Woolwich St. Guelph, on Friday, January 16, 2015, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Funeral service to follow at the church at 2 p.m. with Pastor bob patterson-watt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Canadian Baptist Ministries or World Vision would be appreciated.
