Obituary of Jim Nash

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday, May 25th, 2013, Jim Nash of Chatham (formerly of Guelph) in his 56 year. Cherished son of Robert and Beryl Nash of Guelph. Beloved husband and best friend of Laurie. Loving father of Rob of Woodbridge, Kari and Kim, both of Chatham. Dear brother of Debra Nash-Chambers and her husband Ian of Guelph. He will be lovingly remembered by their children Cristin and Michael and sister-in-law Kathryn Anderson of Vancouver. Jim was a graduate of McMasterUniversity, where he was proud to have played university football. Jim’s accomplishments were many. His career began in the life insurance industry where he was a branch manager at both National Life and Canada Life Insurance Companies. Jim moved on to become Vice President of Sales for ELI Eco Logic Inc. He worked internationally with the President, making the first sales in GPR hazardous chemical destruction plants in Bay CityMichigan, PerthAustralia, to General Motors Canada and General Electric Canada, to the US Army, to Tokyo Boeki and Nippon Sharyo of Chubu Prefecture in Japan. While at Eco Logic, Jim was a two time recipient of the President’s Award of Excellence. Jim was a co-founder of Enviroshake (formerly WPTI). He spent the last 15 years dedicated to the successful development of the company and became a leading authority in the composite building industry. While in this role, Jim was also President of The Southwestern Ontario Bioproducts Innovation Network (SOBIN) and a member of the Centre for Agricultural Renewable Energy and Sustainability. Jim’s work offered him the opportunity to travel the world. He was asked to speak at a number of conferences internationally as an authority on environmental technologies, as well as composites and bioproducts and renewable energies. Jim also took great pride in being a Rotarian. He was a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise and prior to that a member of the Rotary Club of Guelph-Wellington. Jim believed very strongly in giving back to the community. Jim was an avid fisherman and loved his football, hockey, baseball, golf and car racing. Most of all Jim loved being at home with family and friends around him. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Jim’s Life at the Knox Presbyterian Church 20 Quebec Street, Guelph on Saturday June 15th, 2013 at 11:30 am. Reception to follow. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
