Obituary of Inez MacKenzie
It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of a remarkable woman on September 6, 2013 at the age of 90. She was the much beloved wife to Innes for over 67 years. She is survived by her daughter Catherine, son Roderick and his wife Diane, daughter Bette, daughter Frances and her partner Gordon, son William and his wife Tanya. She was a loving Grandma to Drew and his wife Joele, Michael and his wife Isabelle, Heather, Cassie, Ronan and Tristan. She also had the great pleasure of being a Great-Grandma to Ellah and Jazmyne. Predeceased by her father Cleveland Mowers and mother Erie Mowers (nee Doey), brothers Frank, William and Letson and sister Jean. Inez took great joy in hosting, and though her health had been declining over the past couple of years, she always remained the life of the party. Family was of the utmost importance to her and family gatherings the most treasured. Second only to family was travel. She had a special fondness for Europe, with bits of her heart falling in Venice, Paris, Brienz, Copenhagen, and Zermatt. Trips to Clovelly, the coast of Maine and Victoria were very special to her as well. Often she combined family and travel and all of us have great memories of travelling with her. She was a loving, spunky, spirited and witty woman. We will miss her dearly. We wish to thank the staff on the 4th Floor of the Guelph General Hospital for their loving care and attention in the last couple of weeks. As per her wishes, there will not be a service; cremation has taken place. If you wish, donations can be made in her name to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph (519-824-0031.) We invite you to leave your condolences and donations on-line.
