BAMBER, John Passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the age of 93. Beloved husband for over 69 years to June Bamber (nee Hunt). Loved father of Charles Bamber (Anna Baoutina) of Sydney, Australia, Susan Ingram (Peter Pascetta), Wendy Azzopardi (Albert) both of Guelph and Mary Bamber (David Carere) of Waterloo. Proud grandfather of Bryn, Alanna, Renee (Malcolm), Nolan (Leah), Nicola (Nate), Sydney, Johnathan, Adam, Jack and Maximus. Loving great-grandfather of Shae, Maisie, Elora, and Emmett. John emigrated from England and arrived in Canada in 1954 with his best friend Arthur Dodd. His wife June arrived later after he had secured a job and found a home. Although he loved Canada, he maintained strong ties to his family in the UK and went back to visit often. John wanted to make a better life for his family. In Canada he matriculated and became a Certified Engineering Technologist via 11 years of night classes. Education was extremely important to John, and he ensured all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren could follow in his footsteps by having the opportunity to pursue further studies. John Bamber and Alex Barclay were the original founding members of Guelph Minor Soccer in 1966. John was also one of the original employees at the Canadian General Electric Guelph Plant on Woodlawn Road.
