Obituary of Helen L. Oates

Oates, Helen L. ~ It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Helen Louise Oates Kerr (Owen) on Monday, January 18, 2016, at the Groves Memorial Hospital with her son by her side. Despite numerous lifelong obstacles and setbacks with her health, Helen remained a dynamic presence within her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Robert Kerr, Helen was a cherished and devoted mother to Laurie Checkley (Shawn) and Christopher Oates (Kelly); stepmother to Andrew (LeeAnne) and Robbie (Angela). Grandchildren Talan, Cameron, Cassandra and Ethan will miss their loving Grandma. Dearly loved by her sister Cindy Clayton (Bruce), niece Brianne Roth (Adam) and nephew Joel Dollery (Mandy). Helen is predeceased by her parents Norman Owen, Irene and Victor Whibley and her sister Norma Owen. Helen devoted many years to serving her community and was the proud founder of HLO Health Services. She will be fondly remembered by her wonderful, caring Water Street (Elora) neighbours who have supported her in many ways this year.
