Obituary of Sylvia Margret Schenk

At the age of 90 years, died on July 29 at Hospice Wellington, with her daughter Gail at her side. Sylvia was the beloved wife of Warren Schenk (2010) and loving mother of Margie (1975) and Gail. Mom’s example of courage and unconditional love will always be remembered. She and Warren were married and lived in Guelph for 64 years. In retirement, they enjoyed living at Riverside Residence and enjoyed participating in cards and cribbage at the Evergreen Senior Centre. Sylvia was born in Carrick Township on Sept. 27, 1922 to parents, the late Daniel and Hulda Werner. She is a dear sister to Ivia Weigel and her husband, Ralph of Mt. Forest and Elaine Dahms ( the late Eldon) of London. She is predeceased by sisters Nelda Becker (Ted) and Erma Lantz (Lincoln) and sisters in law, Marjory McNaughton (Floyd) and Louana Kester (Stan). Sylvia will be lovingly missed by family and friends. We would like to express our thanks to the staff at the Guelph General Hospital Cancer Clinic, to nurses Susan Zubko, Carmel Richards and to the kind and caring staff at Hospice Wellington. A private interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held at GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.
