Obituary of Margaret May Stott
Stott, Margaret May
Margaret May Stott passed away suddenly and peacefully on Friday Oct. 2 at the Guelph General Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her nephews in the United Kingdom; Christopher Stott (Liz), Dr. Stephen Stott (Catherine) and her niece, Susanne Baudoin (Thierry), in France. Great-nephews Andrew and James gratefully enjoyed recent visits with Margaret and have wonderful memories of their time with her.
Margaret’s Guelph family will miss her greatly as she has been a constant pillar in their lives. Dearly loved by Cindy Clayton (Bruce), Helen Oates, Brianne Roth (Adam), Christopher Oates, Joel Dollery (Mandy), Jake and Talan. Also missed by Andrew Kerr (LeeAnne) of Toronto and Laurie, Cassandra and Cameron Checkley of Calgary. Margaret was pre-deceased by her loving cousin, Irene Whibley.
Margaret emigrated from Scotland and began a lengthy teaching career with the Toronto District School Board. She led a full and rich life in Toronto and established many life-long friendships. Her varied interests included a love of books and promoting the joy of reading. Her volunteer work with ‘Bookends’ in the North York Library earned her a 20-year service award of which she was very proud. Margaret enjoyed living in Guelph for the past two years and she inspired many who exemplified her model of ‘successful aging’.
Many thanks to the staff and residents of Riverside Glen who embraced Margaret, and brought her into their ‘family’. Thanks also to Dr. Kotalik and to the staff of Guelph General Hospital, especially Dr. Dore and his Team.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place on Sunday November 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Gilchrist Chapel McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home One Delhi Street Guelph, Ontario.
