George Loney

Obituary of George Loney

Loney, George William It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George William Loney on Monday, September 30th, 2019. Quickly and without warning, only 69 years old, George suffered heart failure in his home in Belwood, Ontario. George's life will be celebrated by his wife of 50 years, Vivian (nee Ballagh), his three children; Nikki (Shawn Trotter), Tracy (Mark Franken) and Chuck (Megan Smith). "Grumpy" will be dearly missed by his grandchildren; Paisley, Ben, Connor, Noah and by his faithful canine companions; Winston and Cesar. Although short in stature, George's passion for boating, music, cooking and his love of family and friends was larger than life. Always eager to offer his advice, he would loudly impart his ‘Georgism's’ to anyone who would listen. Everyone who has loved and lived with George will have heard, "Do I need to get involved?". George and Vivian built a successful business together. Palmer Cleaning Centre was the first environmentally responsible cleaning plant in all of North America. George was the industry leader who changed the face of the cleaning industry, moving countless businesses in North America to solvent-free solutions. George was a long-time and recognized Rotarian, joyfully giving back to his community with his work with the Guelph Dragon Boat Races and Sunrise Equestrian organizations. George did not want a funeral, only a party. To celebrate his life and his entertaining spirit, we are holding an open house at 41 Amalia Cres in Belwood on Friday, October 4th., from 1 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington are appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, (519-824-0031). We invite you to leave your memories and donations online at: www.gilchristchapel.com and they will be forwarded to the family.
