Obituary of Earl W. Mogk

Born September 20, 1939 in MorningtonTownship, Earl passed away December 26, 2013 at Grand RiverHospital surrounded by his loving family after a positive and courageous 16 month battle with acute leukemia. He will live forever in the hearts of his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy, children Jennifer (Scott) Lamb, Susan (Jeff) Melnyk, all of Guelph, and John (Krista) Mogk of Edmonton, AB. Dearly adored grandfather of Kyla and Megan Lamb, Ainsley Melnyk, and Jessica and Riley Mogk. The youngest child of the late Martin and Bella Mogk, he is survived by siblings Florence Gropp (late Earl), Harvey (late Mae), Isabel (Cam) Graul, Dorothy (Ray) Heipel and Jackie (Andy) Gray as well as sister-in-law Beverly (Ed) Beitz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings Clarence (Dorothy), Viola (Clayton) Luckardt, Paul (Laurene), Jeanie (Allen) McLeod and William in infancy. Earl was a very proud graduate of the inaugural class of the University of Waterloo earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1962. He went on to spend his entire professional career with Fiberglas Canada (later Owens Corning), ultimately managing manufacturing facilities in Guelph and Toronto. Earl will be remembered always for his optimism, willingness to lend a hand and for his dedication to his family and friends. Outside of work, Earl was an active member of St. Paul’s LutheranChurch, Guelph-Wellington Men’s Club, Probus Club of Guelph and served on the Board of the Guelph GeneralHospital for several years. Travel to many parts of the world kept Earl and Dorothy busy in retirement but he was never happier than when spending time with family and friends at the cottage on FourMileLake. Resting at the McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, 1 Delhi St., Guelph. Visitation Monday, December 30th from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral to be held Tuesday, December 31st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 210 Silvercreek Parkway North, Guelph, the Reverend Joanne Peppler officiating.
