Obituary of Ernest Matthews

Passed away peacefully with his family at his side at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, on Monday, December 29th , 2014 in his 92nd year. Left to remember him is his loving wife of 66 years, Pauline (Ralston) Matthews; his children: Brenda Contreras and her husband Fred of San Angelo, Texas, Marlene Congi of Guelph, Ron Matthews of Meaford; his grandsons: Christopher Contreras and his wife Deanna of Leander, Texas, Rory Congi and his friend Jen and her daughter Alexis of Cambridge, Matthew Congi and his wife Sarah, Jamie Congi and Adam Congi all of Guelph; great grandchildren: Brendan Contreras, Annabelle Congi; his sisters: Marion Warren of Palmerston, Mildred Murphy of Sydney Mines, NS, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents: Llewelyn and Susan Matthews; his father and mother in-law: William and Clara Ralston; his brothers: Arthur, Everett, Leslie, John, Lewis, Samuel, Hubert, Russell, Norman, Robert, baby Warren; special nephew and niece, Leslie Matthews and his wife Emma. Ernest was a proud world war II veteran serving 4 years overseas with the Canadian Medical Corp. Thank you to Dr. Mary Ellen Pavanel, for her years of wonderful care; St. Joseph’s Out and About and Respite care programs; the staff of the 2nd and 3rd floor at St. Joseph’s Health Centre for their loving care.
