Obituary of Dorothy Mogk

Mogk, Dorothy Joan (nee Stumpf) It is with deep sadness that the family of Dorothy Joan Mogk announces her passing on June 1, 2021 at Hospice Wellington due to complications from acute leukemia. Born on October 5th (a date she celebrated annually with Rob Eccles for over 45 years) to Nora (Askwith) and Walter Stumpf in Swift Current, SK. Beloved wife of Earl Walter Mogk for over 51 years who predeceased her on December 26, 2013. Lovingly remembered by her children Jennifer, Susan (Jeff) Melnyk, all of Guelph and John (Krista) of Ottawa. Cherished Grandma of Kyla and Megan, Ainsley, Jessica and Riley. She is also survived by her sister Beverley (Ed) Beitz and sisters-in-law Isabel Graul and Jackie Gray. Predeceased by Earl’s siblings and their spouses: Clarence (Dorothy) Mogk, Viola (Clayton) Luckhardt, Florence (Earl) Gropp, Paul (Laurene) Mogk, Harvey (Mae) Mogk, William Mogk, Cameron Graul, Dorothy (Ray) Heipel, Jeanie (Allen) McLeod, and Andy Gray as well as by her dear friend Kaye Clarke. Dorothy taught English and French in London, Kitchener, Scarborough and Guelph, a job she loved. Upon retirement, she volunteered in two schools and with the Girl Guides of Canada as a Brownie and Guide leader training co-ordinator and in the Guide Store. She was a lover of animals especially her many miniature schnauzers over the years. Dorothy was a charter member of Chapters L and P of the PEO Sisterhood and strongly supported its education goals for women. She was also a member of All Saints Lutheran/Anglican Church, Retired Women Teachers and Probus Club of Guelph. Dorothy and Earl were avid travelers to many parts of the world and were particularly fond of Europe and Australia. In addition, they visited all ten provinces and 50 states. They especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cottage on Four Mile Lake for many years. A special thanks to Dr. Geurtjens and nurse Ann of Guelph, Dr. Bonnie McCarron, oncology pharmacist Mona Abdallah and the staff at Grand River Hospital, drivers, kind friends and the numerous unknown blood donors.
