Obituary of Dorothy Twine

TWINE, DOROTHY GERTRUDE (nee VANDERLIP) February 10, 1927-December 22, 2022 It is with great sadness and much love we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dorothy Twine, who passed away December 22, 2022. Dorothy was born in Paris, Ontario, the youngest of six children. She met her husband, Horace of 43 years in Paris and after marrying him, they moved to Guelph with Horace’s son Peter. In Guelph, their family grew and they had four children; her daughter Marie (Joe) and sons Bob, Doug (Sabine) and Rich (Rhonda). She dearly loved her seven grandchildren; Myles, Sheena Shannon, Matt, Theresa, Jeannie and Jake, and great-grandchildren; Jordyn, Paxton, Amelia and Travis. She enjoyed skating as a young person, getting together with family and the neighbours she grew up with around Paris. Her mother had taught her that ‘if you haven’t got a good thing to say about someone, don’t say anything’ and that became her motto too. She was kind and helpful to all, a great listener, a lover of dogs and loved to spend time with her family, especially cooking family dinners. She was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. She enjoyed life in Guelph and made many friends along the way. After Horace’s death in 1996, she continued living in their family home on Bennett Avenue with her little dog Nickie. After more than 50 years living on Bennett Avenue she decided it was time to move on. She sold her home and moved to a senior’s home where she continued making many friends. She always loved a good cuddle with a child or a furry friend. The family would like to thank Dr. David Hood for the wonderful care, kindness and support over many years. A celebration on life will be held at a later date.
