Obituary of Dr. Charles Ronald Harris

Ron Harris passed away peacefully, at the Guelph General Hospital on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the age of 82. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Smith) Harris (2000). He will be greatly missed by his family including daughters Brenda (Andrew) of Calgary, AB, Shelley of Toronto, ON, grandchildren Isabel, Nadia, Olivia and Aidan and many colleagues, students and friends from around the world. Ron was born in the mining town of Chapman Camp, Kimberly, BC. After an adventurous youth, he went on to receive his B.Sc, M.Sc from the University of British Columbia and Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin. He had a distinguished career with Agriculture Canada conducting and leading research in integrated pest management. Ron then went on to his second career with the University of Guelph as Chair of the Department of Environmental Biology, and as University Professor Emeritus. He enjoyed his work at the University and with numerous organizations and scientific societies immensely. He touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed. Cremation has taken place.
