Obituary of E. Joyce Frank

Frank, Ethel Joyce We give thanks for the life of Joyce Frank who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 at Arbour Trails. Joyce was the dearly loved wife of the late Ronald Frank (2008) and daughter of the late Stanley M. and Jane Payne-Mills. Survived by Sarah Tomlinson, Guelph ON, Wayne (Alice) Mills, Caledonia, ON, and predeceased by siblings Ruth, David, Phyllis, Sidney, Shirley and Heather. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours and special aunt to Merecedes Ready-Campbell. Lovingly remembered by Linda and Liz. Joyce was born in Donkin, Cape Breton Island and even though she moved to Guelph as a young woman, her heart was forever connected to the Maritimes. Over her lifetime, she had the ability of meeting folk and was always interested in knowing where they were from and if they were a Maritimer, she was an instant friend. Joyce was eventually employed by Zellers in the Personnel Department doing recruitment and training. She was married to Ron in 1957 and as a couple they cherished one another and joyfully worked and played together for over 50 years. She also enjoyed her many years at the Guelph Curling Club. Joyce’s community at St. George’s Anglican Church nurtured her spiritual strength and up to Ron’s passing, had been a tireless commitment for Joyce’s day to day volunteering where her skills in planning, preparing and just "getting the job done" excelled in many areas and initiatives of church life. A founding member of Hospice Wellington, Joyce was dedicated to the organization as it successfully strived to bring a residential hospice to her community. As a member of the Hospice Wellington Gala Committee, Joyce was a force to be reckoned with when asking for live and silent Auction gifts from her many connections, often presenting a dozen homemade tea biscuits or tasty ginger cookies to a lucky donor. In 2013 Joyce moved from her home at the Arboretum into the new Village of Arbour Trails where she made many new friends and enjoyed a wide variety of activities with Sid and Dana. We are thankful for the care Joyce has received from her Arbour Trails family, Dr. J. Dason, Dr. K. Reid, Danny Lui of Prime Care Pharmacy, Rockwood Care Team Arbour Trails, River Stone Spa and Salon, Cindy, Kim and the Care Team at CCAC. The celebration of her life will be held at graveside at Woodlawn Memorial Park (directly behind the Mausoleum), on Saturday September 12th at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Arbour Trails Chaplain the Rev. Beverley Broughton who has cared for her spiritually during the recent years. If you wish, donations to Hospice Wellington can be made in Joyce’s honour. Arrangements entrusted to the GILCHRIST CHAPEL-McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home One Delhi St. Guelph (519.824.0031).
