Helena "Lenka" (Kukovica) Drolc

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helena "Lenka" (Kukovica) Drolc, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 30, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born on April 16, 1934, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Lenka lived a life marked by faith, family, resilience, and kindness. More than fifty years ago, she embarked on a courageous journey to Canada with her beloved husband, John "Ivan" Drolc, and their young son, John Jr. "Ivi" Drolc, leaving her homeland to build a new life and future for her family. They settled in Guelph, Ontario, where Lenka would spend the remainder of her life creating a loving home and becoming part of a community she cherished. Their immigration was made possible through the generosity and support of her brother, Ivan Kukovica, whose sponsorship helped open the door to a new beginning in Canada.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Lenka's greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, John "Ivan" Drolc; her son, Alex Drolc; and her treasured grandchildren, Sebastian and Mia, who brought immeasurable pride and happiness to her life.

Lenka was predeceased by her beloved son, John Jr. "Ivi" Drolc, whose loss she carried in her heart throughout her life. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has now been reunited with Ivi, along with the many brothers, sisters, cousins, relatives, and friends who preceded her in death.

A faithful and devoted Catholic, Lenka's faith was the foundation of her life. She lived her beliefs not only through prayer, but through compassion, humility, generosity, and gratitude. She possessed a quiet strength and an unwavering trust in God that guided her through life's joys and challenges alike.

Lenka found beauty in the simple things. She loved gardening and took great pride in her flowers, creating colorful gardens that reflected her warmth and nurturing spirit. She was also a talented needlepoint artist, spending countless hours crafting pieces that remain treasured reminders of her patience, creativity, and care.

Those fortunate enough to know Lenka will remember her gentle nature, welcoming smile, and kind heart. She was thankful for every blessing, treated everyone with dignity and respect, and always put the needs of others before her own. Her warmth made people feel at home, and her kindness left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.

Though her family grieves her loss, they celebrate a life well lived and a legacy of love that will endure for generations. The values she embodied, faith, family, kindness, gratitude, and perseverance, continue to live on in those she leaves behind.

Lenka will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi Street, Guelph on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 98 Alice Street, Guelph on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.
