Obituary of Antonietta Garaffa

Garaffa, Antonietta (née Raso).

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, a woman of deep faith, great strength, and unwavering love for her family. She has been reunited with her husband Angelo, her son Antonio, and her granddaughter Jennifer.

She leaves behind a lasting legacy in the family she built. Loving mother of Joe (Rose), Ned (Christine), Francesca, Rose (Joe) Stangherlin, and John (Rosella). Cherished Nonna of Jessica (Ryan), Antonella (Ryan), Jonathan (Nicole), Cristian (Tanya), Sebastian (Meaghan), Stefen (Julia), Alyssa, Vanessa, and Serena. Great-grandchildren Rhilynn, Miyah, Carter, Ryker, Oliver, Sellena, Boden, Bruno, Brody, and Isabella.

Survived by her siblings John Raso (the late Anna) and Assunta Agostino (Pasquale), and sister-in-law Filomena Raso (the late Giuseppe).

Predeceased by her siblings Vincenzo Raso (Antonietta), Francesco Raso (Annina), Vincenza Mammoliti (John), and Concetta Marchesano (Antonio).

Her faith was at the heart of who she was. She found comfort and strength in her relationship with God. Above all else, her family was her greatest blessing. She found immense happiness being surrounded by her family, most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a strong woman who faced life with determination and a generous heart. She showed her love through her food and found great joy in feeding people. All were welcome at her table.

She also had a special love for the beauty of nature. Caring for her plants and vegetable garden brought her much happiness.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Walnut Drive and Holy Rosary community for their kindness and support over the years. We are also deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses, and all the PSWs at Caressant Care Nursing Home Fergus, for the kindness, love, compassion, and dignity shown to her each day.

The Garaffa family will receive relatives and friends for visitation at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma Street, Guelph, on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 2–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church. Entombment to follow at Marymount Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Guelph Food Bank in memory of Antonietta would be appreciated.
