Obituary of Ioannis Spathariotis

SPATHARIOTIS, Ioannis “John”.

Passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband of Konstantina “Dina” Spathariotis. Loving and devoted father of Maria (John), Betsy (George) and Athanasia (Mike). Cherished Pappou of Louie, Tommy, Peter, Adamo, Michael, Dimitrio and Christiano. Survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Greece and Canada.  Predeceased by his siblings Evangelia, Argyro, Konstantina, Giannoula and George.

John loved tending to his vegetable garden and his prized roses. John was a proud man and enjoyed the simple things in life. His door was always open, and he enjoyed gathering with family and friends, where his smile illuminated the room and his sense of humour uplifted everyone he met. He was especially proud of all his grandsons who he adored.

The family will receive friends at the Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi Street, Guelph on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 50 Dovercliffe Rd., Guelph on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
