So many memories of my aunt. When I was a child and she was learning to drive, I rode shotgun. No seatbelts back then. I remember 'white-knuckling' the dashboard a lot. But I enjoyed the ride and I like to think she enjoyed the company. When I was 19, Aunt Yoli gave me a book of hers to read. I had stopped being a reader some time ago but this book revitalized my interests and I believe set me on a better path than the one I was heading down. How do you thank someone for that! Many more memories but these come to mind immediately.
Ok. One more. when I was a really small child playing in the yard, she stuck her head out the back door and told me to come in and help her mop the floor. I ran terrified down the street and hid behind a neighbour's house. I did not want her to find me but I was also hurt that she didn't come looking for me either. At least, that's how I remember it.
