
Obituary of John Ferdinand Scholten
On Saturday July 18, 2026, John Ferdinand Scholten, aged 73, at Guelph General Hospital with his family by his side, entered into his heavenly glory.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty (Helder). He was a loving father and grandfather to Melanie and Dave Niezen (Dawson, Carter and Joanna, Declan, Ryan), Heidi and Gregg Purinton (Ashlynn, Connor), Amanda and Adam van de Pol (Logan, Malakai), Rebecca and Rick Knot (Jaxon, Boyd, Dayna), Rick, Curtis.
John will be greatly missed by his sister Betty Bouwman and her family as well as his mother-in-law Henderika (Hennie) Helder and many brothers and sisters in law. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Emmanuel Canadian Reformed Church, 8037 Highway 7, Guelph.
The interment will be on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 762 Woolwich St, Guelph. Those interested in attending may meet the family there.
The funeral service will be held at the Emmanuel Canadian Reformed Church at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon reception to follow.
