Obituary of Geoffrey Hugh Woolley

Geoffrey “Geoff” Hugh Woolley, 1960 - 2026

It is with a profound sense of heartache that we announce the sudden passing of Geoff on July
6 th , 2026, in Guelph, ON.
Born in Belleville, Geoff grew up in Mississauga and raised his family in Guelph for the past 23
years.
He attended Glenforest Secondary School and earned a Bachelor of Arts (Geography) from
McMaster University, with many fond memories of his time at Matthews Hall.
Geoff was a loving husband to Margie Lambert for 34 years, and together they raised two
amazing children, Steven Andrew Woolley and Leo Lambert Woolley (Evelyn). Geoff will be
deeply missed by his family: Patrick (Josefina), Dave and Anne (Kevin) and brothers-in-law, Jim
(Eva), Don (Sam) and Rick (Debbie). Also missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and
great nephews in Canada and the UK. Geoff was an important friend to many, and they will
miss him dearly. Geoff is predeceased by his father, Max Woolley (2013) and mother, Diana
Woolley (2026).
Geoff was a sports fan and participant, playing hockey and football, skiing and cycling, as well
as coaching hockey. He ran two marathons and one triathlon. He was a diehard Leafs and
Jays fan. But his passion, besides Star Trek and WWII, was golf. Until a shoulder injury last
year, Geoff worked tirelessly on his golf swing and always enjoyed giving regular updates on his
game to anyone who would listen.
Geoff worked for many years as a sales executive in the automotive industry, cumulating as the
General Manager of Wynn’s Canada. He holds a 1994 US patent for the Engine and Radiator
Coolant Treatment machine. For the last ten years, he was an employee benefits insurance
broker, self-employed under the trade name Cardinal Insurance.
Geoff and Margie enjoyed many wonderful trips, including New York, Arizona, Portugal, Italy,
Spain and France.
Geoff was a black-and-white guy, telling you like it was. He had many friends and was often
the organizer of social events and activities. He could be counted on to light up a room and
supply endless jokes and conversation. He loved Christmas most of all and was truly a big kid
at heart.
A drop-in memorial will be held at his happy place, Victoria Park East Golf Club, 1096 Victoria
Road South, Guelph from 4-7 pm on Thursday July 16 th . There will be a small sharing of
memories starting at 5pm.
