Bonita (Bonnie) Jean Roberts (née Gignac)

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bonita "Bonnie" Jean Roberts (née Gignac), who passed away at Guelph General Hospital on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at the age of 78, following complications from rheumatoid arthritis.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1948, Bonnie lived a life centered on love, laughter, and family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dennis Charles Roberts, who passed away on June 28, 2013. Though they have been apart for many years, they are now reunited in eternal peace.

Bonnie leaves behind her loving children, Sheri Anne Gilder and Dennis Sean Roberts, and her cherished granddaughter, Courtney Lenora Gilder, who brought her endless pride and joy. She is also survived by her mother, Olive Laverty, who’s remarkable 101 years stand as a testament to the strength and love shared throughout their family.

Bonnie found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved curling up with a good book, travelling to new places, preparing wonderful meals, trying new restaurants, and enjoying a suspenseful thriller movie. She had a wonderful sense of humour, loved sharing a great joke, and treasured every opportunity to gather with family, especially during the holidays. Her greatest joy was simply being surrounded by those she loved.

Those who knew Bonnie will remember her kind heart, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Despite living with the challenges of rheumatoid arthritis, she faced life head on, leaving behind a legacy of love, and countless cherished memories.

In keeping with Bonnie's wishes, there will be no funeral service. She will be cremated at Brombal Funeral Home, and laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Dennis, at St. John's Norway Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Guelph General Hospital and the Brombal Funeral Home for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Bonnie during her final days.

Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we find comfort in knowing that Bonnie's love, laughter, and spirit will remain with us always. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
