Obituary of Marlene Gertrude Kostal
KOSTAL, Marlene (nee Speers).
Marlene was born in Guelph on May 8, 1939. She grew up with 3 siblings, Archie (Donna), Edith (Alex) and the late James.
She met William Kostal in a bowling alley and married in November 1960; they just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They both lived in Guelph their entire lives. They have enjoyed attending musicals, sporting events and have been lifelong Guelph Storm fans. They have 2 daughters, Stephanie and Leslie (Mark) and 3 wonderful grandchildren, Troy (Kristina), Dustin (Megan) and Zoey.
Marlene attended Knox Presbyterian Church for many years where she also taught Sunday School and has volunteered at St. George’s Anglican Church and Girl Guide camps. Marlene loved to spend time with her family at regular family gatherings. She loved to keep busy and would spend her summers working in her garden. She loved creating arts and crafts and spending time with her grandchildren while growing up. They all have many wonderful memories of spending time in Niagara Falls every summer. She attended John F. Ross and graduated in 1957. Marlene worked and managed Zacks Fashion store for 35 years. She was an elegant lady with an amazing sense of fashion herself and could dress anyone that walked through the doors of the store. She always had a friendly smile for everyone and would always take the time to chat. She will be missed.
There will be no service at this time, but donations could be made to Sunnyside Home Long Term Care in Kitchener or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
