Obituary of Terry Morris Hammond

HAMMOND, Terry Morris.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Terry Morris Hammond.

Terry passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Guelph

General Hospital. Terry had only just begun his courageous battle with lung cancer.

Terry leaves behind his loving life partner of 16 years, Cheryl Schell and her family of Guelph,

Ontario; his children, Cory Hammond (Anita D’Hondt) of Kitchener, Ontario, Katrina Hammond

(Mark Bartlett) of Brantford, Ontario, and Ashley Hammond of Orillia, Ontario.

He is lovingly survived by his siblings, Theresa Jhonson (Dave Jhonson) of Kitchener, Ontario,

Judy Tanyi (Scott Tanyi)(Scotty balls) of Huntsville, Ontario, and Beverly Hammond of

Kitchener, Ontario.

Terry was predeceased by his father, Morris Ralph Hammond; his mother, Alva Kathleen

Jackson; and his beloved grandson, Dominick Hammond.

He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews,

including Andrea Hammond of Huntsville, Dakota Morris of Brantford, and Adrian Hammond

of Huntsville, Brittany, Shelby, Adam, Darren, and Cody.

Terry was also deeply loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Justin D’Hondt

(Cassie D’Hondt) of Kingston, Ontario; Kellie Demers (Robert Skuce) of Kitchener, Ontario;

Braeden Hammond of Kitchener; and Avery D’Hondt of Kitchener. Cherishing his memory as

well are his great-grandchildren, Aurora Demers, Emmet Skuce, and Jaxson Skuce of Kitchener.

The world seemed to hold its breath on May 12, 2026, as Terry was called home. Though our

hearts ache deeply for the loss of such a wonderful soul, may we find comfort in knowing he

now rests peacefully — where illness can no longer touch him, and pain can no longer confine

him. His love, laughter, and memory will remain forever woven into the hearts of all who knew

and loved him. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi

Street, Guelph on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral

Service in the Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be held at Marymount Cemetery.
