Obituary of Cecilia Pigozzo
PIGOZZO, Cecilia Anna.
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Cecilia Pigozzo at the age of 85 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on December 23, 2025.
Beloved wife of the late Olivo Pigozzo (1994). Cherished mother of Tony (Rina) and Luisa Herkimer (Chris). Devoted nonna of Olivia (Pietro), Elless and Alex Pigozzo (Thea), Matthew (Rachelle) and Emily Herkimer (Gabe).
She will be forever loved and missed by her siblings Lina Tronchin (Toni), Luigina Guolo, Paola Brombal (Piero) and Angelina Parisotto, her brother-in-law Tommaso Pigozzo, her sisters-in-law Norma Parisotto, Elia Pigozzo, Anna Pigozzo and Maria Pia Bordignon and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.
Predeceased by her siblings John Parisotto and Maria Gazzola, brothers-in-law Nico Gazzola, Carlo Guolo, Bruno Pigozzo and Pietro Pigozzo, nephew Sandro Gazzola and niece Marilisa Pigozzo.
Cecilia immigrated from Northern Italy with her sister Lina in the late 50s to come join her brother John and to make a better life for herself and her family back home. She worked relentlessly for the remainder of her active years, even through pain and illness, to provide for her family.
Cecilia was a resilient, hard-working, helpful and outgoing lady. She was very proud of her grandchildren and dedicated much of her time lovingly caring for them. They will forever cherish Friday Pasta Night at Nonna’s.
Cecilia also willingly gave of her time volunteering at Holy Rosary Parish as well as with the Trevisani nel Mondo committee. In addition, her attendance at daily mass and weekly prayer group were a testament of her strong faith.
She enjoyed spending time with friends and family at festas and summer picnics where she could be heard laughing and singing her Italian folk songs with such gusto. In the summer she worked hard to grow a bountiful garden of tomatoes and radicchio that she proudly shared with friends, neighbours and family. Cecilia also loved to travel back home to Italy and treasured her time spent visiting with her dear sisters, cousins, friends and their families.
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff, volunteers, residents and family members at St. Joseph’s Health Centre who treated her as one of their own to ensure her final years were filled with kindness, tranquility and compassion.
Rest in peace, Mamma. You deserve it.
