Obituary of Millie Elizabeth Berry
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our Mom, Nana, Aunt, and friend, Millie Elizabeth (Hill, Effer) Berry.
She is predeceased by her parents Lester & Caroline Hill, her sister Margaret McEachern (Truman), her brother Grant Hill, her first husband Robert Effer (Vesta), her son Michael Effer, her daughter Judith Elizabeth Rogers (Stewart) and her 2nd husband George Berry.
She is survived by her grand children Amanda Anderson (Darren), Adam Rogers, Joelle Berry Bruckman, Vaughan Berry Bruckman (Katie), Quinten Berry Bruckman, and great grandson Oliver Anderson.
Her daughters Carole Berry Bruckman (Terry), Sue Ziegler (Dan), Sandralee Berry, and Anne Farrell (Paul).
Her best friend Jean Floto (Donald), the Bell girls, her Mooretown crew, nieces, nephews, & countless others.
We are so grateful that she left so peacefully, in her home, surrounded by family - just as she wanted.
It’s hard to capture the spirit of someone as strong and full of heart as Millie, but if you knew her, you knew she did things her way—always. Stubborn in the best sense of the word, she lived life on her own terms and never backed down from what she believed in. Her independence was her signature; she faced every challenge head-on, right up until her last breath.
But behind that toughness was a heart that loved fiercely. She didn’t just care about people—she took care of them. If you needed a meal, a bed, a drink, or a few dollars to get by, she’d find a way to give it, even if she didn’t have much herself. Her home was always open, her arms always ready for a hug, her advice (solicited or not) always honest.
She was generous beyond measure, stubborn beyond reason, and loved beyond words. Her strength and kindness leave a mark on everyone who was lucky enough to know her—and though she may be gone, her love will keep showing up in the people she cared for so deeply.
Celebration of life at her home to follow. More information on that coming soon.
