Obituary of John Theis
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of John Theis of Guelph, on September 27, 2025.
John will be lovingly honoured and remembered by his wife Kathryn Greenaway. He is survived by his beloved children Rick, Becky, and stepson Eric; and cherished grandchildren Liv, Luke, and Addie. John will be deeply missed by his brother-in-law Bill Greenaway and dear partner, Ruth Slavin, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.
He leaves a legacy of wisdom and love to many close friends, colleagues and current and former clients.
In his public life, John wore many hats; as a clergyman, educator, and psychologist. In his private life, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Whatever the role, John’s life was rooted in service to others. With thoughtful wisdom, kindness, and a good sense of humour, he inspired those around him, challenged others to think deeply, and was a caring leader for his community.
John’s presence, love, and encouragement will be deeply missed, and his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation to the Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi Street, Guelph on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 2:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 49 Blueridge Avenue, Kitchener on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
