So, for many years Joel's place was a gathering spot for so many people to come together and just have fun. He made everywhere he lived a place that was welcoming and inclusive to friends, old and new, to not just party and have fun, but to create memories and lasting ties. From the apartment on Silvercreek Pkwy to the house on Huron Street, right up to the many years in his own house on Exhibition Street, he made his home a spot that was conducive to a range of activities for all to enjoy. From a multitude of games, to a plethora of musical instruments, everyone was encouraged to participate and enjoy the camaraderie that these activities would instill. As an only child, Joel would call this wide circle of friends his "extended family," which of course came full circle for him as he began another chapter in his life with his beloved new family. There are many people who will never forget this charmed period of time with him and it is with this sentiment in mind that we give thanks for having Joel in our lives.

I would like to send my sincere condolences to the entire family and to Joel’s friends. He was a very kind man. I would stop in from time to time and he was always welcoming. He would always have a hello and tell me I’m the girl with Egyptian eyes. It would always make me laugh or at least put a smile on my face. I haven’t gotten to know as well as others but from what I do know you had a big heart, loved your family and were always down for a beer and a laugh. You will be missed by so many, rest in peace Joel.
