Obituary of Catherine Margaret McCowan

MCCOWAN, Catherine Margaret of Guelph passed away peacefully in her 85^th year on Saturday August 30, 2025. Cathie Buchanan married Frank McCowan on October 10, 1964 in Duff's United Church in Walton ON and became the mother of Robert John ( Teresa, Victoria BC), Richard Paul ( Tracy, Stayner ON) and David Mark ( Lex, Stayner ON). Cathie was born on December 22, 1940 in the family farm house of Donald and Jean Buchanan in Grey Township near Walton. Cathie will be fondly remembered by sisters Clara Day (John, Ottawa ON), Mary Helen McLachlan (Jack, Seaforth ON), grandchildren Kelsey, Nathan, Madeline, Morgan, Fin and Maeve, also sisters- in-law Joan McMartin (St Thomas) and Ann Cox (Clinton) and many nieces and nephews.

Cathie was educated at Seaforth District High School and St. Mary's General Hospital School of Nursing in Kitchener (1962), becoming a most caring and loving Registered Nurse. Cathie nursed in several towns and cities including St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph. The final 12 years of her career were enjoyed by the residents of The Elliott Community in Guelph. Cathie has lived at St. Joseph's Health Centre for the last17 years and was most appreciative of her caregivers and visitors in those years. Visitation will be held at the Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi Street, Guelph, Ontario from 5pm to 7pm on Friday September 5^th and on Saturday September 6^th from 10am until the funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home at 11am with a reception to follow.
