In Loving Memory of Macayla Rayner

February 11, 1997- July 29, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Macayla (Cayla, Cay-Cay).

Macayla was a loyal friend and a fierce protector of those she loved. She wore her heart on her sleeve, felt deeply, and loved even deeper. Macayla loved snuggling her fur babies, rocking out to Marianas Trench and early 2000s hits, building LEGO, collecting hockey cards, and connecting with her family daily. A passionate animal lover, Macayla brought the same deep compassion to her work at Schlegel Retirement Village where she formed meaningful connections with the residents who came to adore her as much as she adored them.

Though she will remain 28 forever, her caring heart, infectious laugh, goofiness and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Macayla will be cherished by Brandon, her fiancé and life partner of 10 years. Just 25 days away from her dream barn wedding, she was soon to become Mrs. Macayla Moore. She would have been an incredible wife and mother, but tragically, those dreams will not be realized.

She will be deeply missed by her fur babies Marley and Misty; her parents, Cathy (Al) and Steve (Denise); her sister, Ali (Pete); and her bonus siblings, Cynthia (Nick), Sammi (Glenn), Hailey (Brendan), Samuel (Cait), and Madison (Ryan). Macayla was “Auntie Cay-Cay” to Arthur, Gage, Joan, Ariya, and Selene. Macayla is lovingly remembered by her grandmothers Anne, Clare and Mary, and is predeceased by her grandfathers - Papa, Grandpa, and Grandpa B. She was adored by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her future in-laws Debbie (John), Brandon’s grandmother Anne, Brandon’s late father Les, and Brandon’s siblings and loved ones. Macayla will be greatly missed by her best friend, Krystal. Her life touched countless others, and we thank every one of you for loving her so deeply.

We are forever grateful for the light and joy Macayla brought into our lives.  Her life will be honoured privately by family and close friends. In Macayla’s memory, we invite you to perform a random act of kindness or consider donating to your local animal shelter.

You are my sunshine

My only sunshine

You make me happy

When skies are gray

You'll ALWAYS know, dear

How much I love you

Please don't take

My sunshine away
