Obituary of June Madeline Heeley

HEELEY, June Madeline (nee Gilliam)

Passed peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the age of 94. Beloved wife for over 65 years of the late George Heeley (d. 2018); loving mother of April (Rod) Wilkinson and Brian (Kenmi) Heeley; and proud grandmother of Tristan (Amanda), Adrian (Kaitlyn) and Amanda (Julian). June will be dearly missed by her brother James “Jim” Gilliam, by her extended family and by her many friends. June was a strong and determined woman, she worked at Foodland and then at I.T.T with George for many years while also caring for her dear family. Her strength helped her though the tough times without any complaint. She was a fighter, and her long life is owing to that fight. 

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, PSWs and nurses at Riverside Glen; the critical care nurses & 5th floor staff at Guelph General Hospital; and June and George’s long-time family doctor, Dr. Christopher Stemerdink. All these care providers were compassionate, thoughtful and supportive through June’s many health challenges over the past few years. 

Cremation has taken place. For those who wish, donations in June’s honour to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes or Guelph General Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
