Sutton, Beryl (nee Bailey)

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Beryl Sutton at the age of 88 years on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

She was born in Warrington, England where she met the love of her life, William Arnold Sutton. After hopping over the pond a couple of times, they settled in Guelph, Ontario to raise their family.  Beryl was proud of her many years of work as a legal secretary in the office of the solicitor for the City of Guelph. She shared many fond memories of the neighbourhood, Devonshire gatherings filled with laughter as they crafted, organized garage sales only to be followed by a great party. Her knitting needles provided colourful sweaters for the family which unfortunately were mandatory wear on vacations as seen in family photos. This allowed for the blossoming of many solid friendships both near and far as she loved to travel and accompanied Bill on his many business trips. and vacations abroad. At family events, intense games of scrabble, Rummoli, or the option of puzzles kept everyone busy. She spent hours at dance recitals, Christmas concerts and baseball games.

Beryl was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Bill for 67 years. Devoted mother to Alan (Caroline) Sutton, Leanne (Michael) Swart. Cherished grandmother of Desirée (Jason), Brendan (Lindsay), Melinda, and Olivia, and adored by great grandson Ajay.

Family and friends are invited to Brombal Funeral Home & Cremation Care, One Delhi Street, Guelph, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel of the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with the family hosting a celebration luncheon to follow.
