Obituary of James Dorian Bot

JAMES DORIAN BOT

February 27, 1947 to April 8, 2025

James Dorian Bot, age 78 years, passed away peacefully on April 8 th , 2025, surrounded by the comforting grace of God, after receiving the sacramental Last Rites.

Born to Elda (Hilda) Bot Aspden (1924-2019) and grandson of Ermenegildo (1899-1967) and Assunta (1905-1982) Bot, James carried the legacy of his family with quiet pride.

He leaves behind his aunt Mary Bot (London, ON), sister Natalie Aspden and her family (Florida, USA), and cousin Sonia Bot (Ottawa, ON).

Although solitary in nature, James held dear the Bot family, including cousins in Guelph and Markham, and his trusted friends at the apartment building where he lived. They were important to him, and he carried them in his heart until the very end.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Jim and Pat Neville for their unwavering support and assistance. They also extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Guelph General Hospital, Homewood Health Centre, and St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Their outstanding care and compassion made them a second family to James during his incredibly brave journey with medical complications over the past two years.

The graveside service and interment, presided over by Fr. Ian Duffy, will be held on Tuesday, April 29th at 1:30 PM at Marymount Roman Catholic Cemetery, 5400 Highway 6 N, Guelph, ON.
