I heard last year Gert passed away and see now his tribute page. I am sorry for the loss of my cousin Gert and want to give my condolences to Nathalie, Emily and Daniela.

Gerrit Kistemaker was an extraordinary colleague and a strong contributor to the Centre of Genetic Improvement of Livestock. He will be sorely missed. His dry sense of humour and quick wit was always refreshing, and he often gave me the insight and ability to see things just a little bit differently.
To Gerrit’s family, we want to say thank you. Thank you for sharing him with us and letting us be blessed with knowing him. Our deepest condolences go to you, may you find peace in these very sad times.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of Gerrit and my deepest condolences to his wife - Natalie and his two daughters, Daniella and Emily. I was one of his closest friends, was his “best man” in his wedding, was his PhD classmate and was his housemate in Guelph during 1994-1998. A great friend with beautiful and brilliant mind. May cherished memories provide comfort to you all during this difficult time, and may his spirit live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.

We were blessed with meeting Gerrit at the university. We witnessed how his relationship with Natalie blossomed into marriage, and then a beautiful family. Sending our deepest condolences to Natalie, Emily, Daniela and Gerrit's family.
I was his PhD advisor when he came to Guelph. He was one of the best of my students, and he did well in his career both for Canada and for the world.
